Philippa Allan

Founder and Director

Originally from Australia, Philippa Allan is widely experienced, both as an active musician and as a manager.

She has lived in Berlin for over 20 years, returning regularly to Australia.

Passionate about Australian music, she is keen to nurture and grow the international profile of the country’s arts organisations while empowering its artists to gain more control over their own international careers.

On Stage

As a violinist, Philippa Allan toured, recorded and performed internationally with orchestras and chamber music formations, including the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra, Konzerthausorchester Berlin, Sydney Symphony Orchestra, Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen and the Australian Chamber Orchestra.

Behind the Scenes

At Karsten Witt Musik Management from 2007-2015 she was Artist Manager for a range of conductors, the Arditti String Quartet, as well as various new music and interdisciplinary projects. She also worked as Advisor for Artistic Planning to Tonyeong International Music Festival, assisting Artistic Director Alexander Liebreich.

She worked as Orchestral Manager at the Deutsche Oper Berlin from 2015 – 2018, during which time she initiated new projects including an externally funded (IFAF) study of accoustics of the orchestral pit and potential improvements to materials in use, with a view to acheiving a more healthy work environment for the musicians while optimising the soundscape.
